Just in the nick of time before the HST zap in Ontario and BC, Apple announced that the iPad will be available for Canada as of May 28th. Pre-orders at this time may even arrive at your door by that date, according to Apple's announcement at http://tinyurl.com/24t4noq
Data plans will be available; however, they are not cheap. LifeGuide subscribers will enjoy FREE quotation software designed for use on the iPad. The software will be entirely self-contained on the iPad, meaning that, when updated from a PC or by WiFi, users would save the cost of data transfer when using the software.
